Yes, perhaps a mind reeling Manifesto from the Mods would be helpful. Make that a living document. Let's be flexible. How about another category under "Others"? Has-Beens or Used-2-Be's? Where Continentals, 911's, & Gallardos go to die. Kinda like a leper colony, or old age home for former Holly wood stars? No offense!
True. I don't really know what the current criteria is for getting something featured, as now apparently Gallardos aren't rare enough to land a spot on the front page but Phantoms are.
@Mazdafreak: I'm with you, I think. I enjoy, I'm moved to, comment about the photo, not so much about the subject, or car. The problem with attributing scores, points, values to photos is that'd tend to be a subjective activity. Each mod would have a different photo aptitude & varying preferences. I think that it would be very inconsistent. Whereas if a list of cars was decided upon (featured, & different values for more or less exotic) we'd all know the criteria. Kinda like now, but I'm not so sure, there seen to be a bunch of discrepancies. This is not a democracy, so our input may or may not matter to the mods. As in "go make your own damn exotic website". How do you reconcile, or marry. that the subject is the car & the medium is the photograph? I think resolving that relationship is the key to the matter, as though that could be done.
Thanks guys! I have to admit after three years as a member I hardly never put up any non featured pics. Going through my older shots I have found so many non featured cars that I love how the pics turned out, so I will be posting up a lot these shots as often as possible now.
Yes, we were referring to the G63 AMG. We are discussing what should get featured and what doesn't; my opinion is that the best photos should be featured, regardless of whether the subject is a Continental GT or a P1.
Help me understand the discussion a little better, guys, please. Does a G63 refer to a M-B AMG 63, or what else? Is this discussion about what gets more cred, or points, the exotictissity of the mark, or the betterness of the photo?
I personally like how the featured page is now based more off the shot than anything else. However...I do agree that a G63 is pushing the "exotic" realm a little bit.
It may be an improvement in your eyes Nick, but there are some things that really don't add up. A G63 got featured (nothing against the shot), but it's a G63, they aren't rare compared to real exotics. And then a pure example was when West had a photo of a Huracan and GTC combo unfeatured, which should have been featured. It seems that the site has taken one step forward into improvements, but 2 steps back on themselves. Such a shame realistically.
Is there a new moderator or something? Cuz spots going to the front page used to be purely off car, not shot. Now it's all shot (as we've seen with R8s and G63s going to the front page). Damn, I'm starting to get angry at the mods.
