Audi R8 spotted in Charlotte, North Carolina

Details on This Audi R8:

  • Location
    Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Description
One of the sillier-looking cars I've seen in NC. A gold wrapped, debadged R8 on Forgiatos valeted at the Southpark Mall. Barely anyone seemed to know what it was, but it attracted a lot more attention that the Ghost and GT-R parked in front of it. First of three R8s spotted that evening.

Me too, seemed like it totally disappeared from ES after 2015! My brother said it flew past him once back then but sadly never saw it for myself. Check out the rest of this guy's collection on the website when you get the chance, full of crazy stuff going from an F12 to every JDM car imaginable. Apparently ran some dyno shop to launder the cash. Hope this one ends up in Charlotte again.

Fun fact - this car was owned by a drug dealer and was recently seized and is now up for auction. Never know where cars will pop up again, saw it on this site and immediately recognized it as this one.

It depends where you're coming from. When I'm in Charlotte I stay in the University area, and I have easy access to Huntersville via I-485 to I-77, so it only takes about 15 minutes to get to Huntersville/Cornelius. From anywhere else, it would take between 30-45 minutes, depending on how far south you're starting from. Just hop on I-77 N, it's a pretty easy drive.

Harrison I have heard that next month's C&C will be at their new long-term location, but they haven't revealed where that location will be as of yet. I will give you a heads up as soon as I learn where it will be. You can always try checking out the C&C up in Huntersville, which is at Waterbean Coffee every 2nd Saturday of the month.

Patrick I saw an SRT Viper GTS on Saturday at the Southpark Mall. It was matte grey with black wheels and orange calipers, and is a special edition that SRT only made 10 of. Thought you'd like to know : ) I also saw a silver Diablo Roadster on East Blvd at South Blvd....I was previously unaware of it so keep your eyes out for that as well.

Ah okay, I think that was the same Huracan I saw in Southpark (although it wouldn't surprise me to learn there are at least two in the area in that spec, as Dustin saw one up in Cornelius). I think I have seen that matte white California as well, because about half a year ago I saw a wrapped white Cali with black wheels at Sullivan's Steakhouse in South End along with a Ghost and a Phantom Drophead. The Cali and Ghost were from Metrolina Auto Group, pretty sure the Phantom Drophead was privately owned.

Not sure if you'll be able to tell if it's the same Cali or not, but here's a pic of it that I posted a while back: http://www.exoticspotter.com/ferrari-california-charlotte-north-carolina-205919

And here's the Huracan that Dustin posted: http://www.exoticspotter.com/lamborghini-huracan-cornelius-north-carolina-208912

The Huracan was orange with black rims, it was getting a ton of attention. I usually check the Epicentre as well but didn't have time last night. I'll have to check out the Vivace restaurant, I don't think I've been there. I saw another California tonight (no pics) that was matte white with black rims on the way back from the Panthers game.

Yes there were two TAs here in Raleigh at one point (unsure if both are still here though). I've not gotten any pics of either outside of car shows though. I did see a blue Cali on Fairview Rd in front of Whole Foods so it may have been the same one. And dang I haven't seen anything good at Ritz Carlton in forever....there was a Cont GTC there a couple weeks ago in the rain when I was coming back from CPCC, but other than that I really haven't seen anything there. What color was the Huracan? I've seen an orange one and a black one in Charlotte, and I also know of at least one green one and a red one, plus a white one up in the LKN area. I sometimes have decent luck at the Epicenter, which is right around the corner from the Ritz, but strangely enough their valet is either filled with exotics or doesn't have any at all. I don't usually stop unless there's something really good like an Aventador Roadster though. If you're ever in midtown on a nice night, you should check out Vivace Restaurant, because one of the valets there said they get some Ferraris and Lamborghinis somewhat regularly.

Sounds like you've seen some insane cars in terrible weather! Also, you've seen TWO TA's? That's insane. Also I saw some pretty insane cars the past few days. My friend and I saw a blue California at the East Blvd Harris Teeter , and last night at the Ritz there was a Huracan, new Maybach, Ghibli and custom Ghost. Nothing at Southpark though, but I can't really complain.

As crazy as it sounds, don't rule Southpark out just because the weather is iffy. I was there a couple months ago on a weird Saturday where it was sunny for a little bit, then started POURING, then stopped but stayed cloudy for the rest of the day. I still managed to spot an Aston Martin Vantage, Ferrari 328, Mercedes AMG GT S, a couple Bentleys, Maseratis, and a Rolls Royce, and a GT-R, plus a Mercedes CLS AMG of some sort randomly doing a burnout in reverse at Phillips Place. Haha. Also, about a year and a half ago, we were driving through there in the pouring rain and still saw a California and a Phantom Convertible (tops were up on both).

And hmm new Vipers in Charlotte....can't say that I recall seeing any of them except possibly at the C&C Music Factory. I'm not really one to go to about Vipers though, because for some reason I have TERRIBLE luck spotting them. Strangely enough, there are several of the newer models up here in the Raleigh area, including two of the very rare TA models (of which only 93 were produced), and I've seen a grand total of two on the streets, one of them being a TA model which I missed. All combined I think I've seen four Vipers TOTAL this year....managed to get pics of two of them, which are the only two Vipers I've ever gotten any pics of. I have the same problem with the Acura NSX, except I see even fewer of those and get even less pictures than I do of Vipers. Lol

That's awesome! I'll defenitley try to make a trip to Southpark before break ends, but if this weather keeps up I might be out of luck for cars. Also, completely unrelated question: have you seen any new Vipers recently? I feel like they're such a good deal for the money but I've only seen one in Charlotte

Thanks Patrick! My cousin said he saw it too (I think it was near CPCC's central campus), and it's been spotted a couple other times around Charlotte as well. So I'm sure you'll see it at some point. Lots of R8s have been popping up in Charlotte the past couple of times I've spotted in Southpark for some reason.

This thing looks insane - really hope to see it at some point. My brother told me he saw it the other day on Independance while he was driving. I feel like this the type of car that's awesome to see but no one would take you seriously driving it. (Except in Dubai)

It's been postponed for a couple months until they can find a new location. Nothing definite has been set up, but last I heard they were looking at either the massive office park in Ballantyne or up near the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
