This technique is not as straight forward as the other one, but it's awesome when perfected. I don't use it very consistently, even though it has produced (in my opinion) some of my best shots. Maybe you've heard of this technique, it's called the Rule of Thirds.
Now without getting into the math, the Rule of Thirds is a guideline which basically says that the subject of your painting or photo (in this case, the car) should be in one of the outside thirds of the photo or painting. That probably doesn't make any sense, but hopefully this photo will clarify things.
As you can see, the center of the car is on the line that marks the beginning of an outside third. Now, the center of the subject doesn't have to be EXACTLY at that line, but it should be somewhere in the area. Here are two other examples of the Rule of Thirds.
Hopefully you get the idea now, if you don't send me a message or look it up. I would really encourage you to try it, post the picture, and put the url down as a comment. I would love to see how it turned out!
