To respond, yes, BMW had 10 of their pre-production i8's in Santa Monica last week and the week prior for their international media preview. Malibu canyon, including a stop at Geoffrey's (where you could see at least 8 of them parked together), was included on the route.

I saw this car the day before ON the pier, check out my page. I wonder if BMW has hired to drive it around the area for publicity :)
