Glad to hear that the aqua car is still around. I loved seeing it from time to time. I will have to keep an eye out for the yellow 991.1 RS, I have not seen one in that color before!
And that is super cool about the non street cars. As a bit of a Forza fan myself that is pretty cool to hear.
Wow, thanks for all of the info! I was kind of wondering if there was a group myself because I had heard from others of seeing groups like that at Waverly but until last week, I hadn't seen more than one at a time over there.
I feel like the car scene in Charlotte has gotten good enough that a few Pistas are bound to be delivered in the area. But I also think that Lambo and McLaren have pretty much taken over the QC exotic car scene. There's a growing group of exotic car owners that go out together a lot, and that ridiculous combo you saw at Waverly was part of it. The guy with the purple Performante briefly had a white LP610 (which was one of the Huracans I saw at the mall that day) and I think either also has or used to have a first gen V10 R8 and a Viper ACR. There are three other Performantes in that group (two white ones and a matte grey one), two 600LTs, a few 570Ss, a bunch of regular LP610s, an Underground Racing Aventador, an Aventador SV (the white one you posted recently), the yellow 488, a 991 GT3, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. I saw a video of some of them cruising down 77 headed to C&C with a red 991.2 GT3 RS that must have recently joined as well.
But anyway, I agree about the looks of the 488 vs the 458. I think the 458 and F12 were the last great-looking Ferraris, and iirc those were the last Ferraris designed by Pininfarina. The F430 has always been my favorite because it was the first Ferrari I remember seeing in person in the wild, so driving one (especially a Scuderia) was pretty insane! I would definitely daily drive one if I had the funds, lol. The only thing I wasn't wild about was the automatic clutch actuation, which felt pretty weird when it was slipping the clutch around parking lots and whatnot, and also you had to lift from the throttle ever so slightly during upshifts or they'd be brutally rough. BUT I think I would actually prefer it to a modern dual clutch transmission which is very smooth and doesn't take any finesse to drive smoothly. an F430 with a gated manual would still be my first choice though.
Yeah I'd have to agree with you there. The Scuderia is definitely my favorite of the track focused Ferraris as well. Honestly, it might be my favorite Ferrari in general. I've had one as the background to my laptop for a few years now haha. That is so awesome that you got to drive one!
And yeah the Speciale looks really good as well. I'd really like to see a Pista in person because honestly I thought the base 488 was a bit of a downgrade from the base 458 aesthetically. But I'd like to compare the Pista to the Speciale as it looks pretty nice in photos.
I've seen two GT3s all year, both in Raleigh: a white 991.1 and a white 991.2 (strangely at an automatic carwash). I've seen a few Cayman GT4s and Boxster Spyders around though. I remember hearing of a different red Speciale that was seen in the Southpark area prior to this guy getting his, and a black one somewhere in Ballantyne. Plus I'm sure there are a few others nobody has seen around. Of all the track-focused Ferraris that have been produced, the Scuderia is my favorite (probably because I got to drive one after Motori Italiani a few months back lol, don't even ask how). But I still really like the looks of the Speciale, certainly looks better than the Pista. I wonder if anyone in Charlotte will get one of those.
I still haven't even seen a Speciale in person. I've heard there are (or at least were) some in Charlotte, but they're owned by people who don't drive them much. There seem to be a lot of 991 GT3s in Charlotte as well (a few of which are RSs) but hardly anyone ever drives them anymore.
I think it probably is the same guy. I haven't seen the GT3 RS in at least a year if not two now, so I'm not sure if it is around any more. Also kind of wonder if the 458 Speciale is around any more, seeing this 488 kind of makes me think it isn't.
