The thing about the F1 transmission in the F355 was that it was not only Ferrari's first F1-style transmission in a road car, but also the first ever F1-style transmission in any production road car, which as everyone knows about "firsts" is that there are always teething issues with brand new things, and the F1's gearbox was not only a bit "sloppy" in behavior but was also so horrendously unreliable that if you ask any Ferrari mechanic/technician for advice on F355's they will always talk you out of buying one with the F1 transmission.
Sadly the F355, while still my favorite Ferrari of all time because it's so strikingly beautiful and makes amazing sounds, is a reliability nightmare enough as it is, and the F1 is even moreso. Owning/driving one of these with the manual transmission is really the best way to experience these cars.
