Ford GT spotted in Gloucester, United Kingdom

Details on This Ford GT:

  • Location
    Gloucester, United Kingdom
  • Description
This is the first ever GT40 delivered in the UK (March 1966, Chassis no. 1034), parked up at my late father-in-law's father's car repair business (T. S. Lawrance in Gloucester) who knew James Fielding - the original owner of this car. (The GT40 was not in for repair btw!) Found this on a slide while reminiscing, as it is my late father-in-law's birthday today. He loved cars and owned several exotic classics in his time, RIP Paul Lawrance, we miss you. Fantastic car, went on to race around the world.

What an amazing photo from way back! OIART and I recently saw one of the original 6 prototype cars, 2 amazing recreations, and another original undergoing a second restoration all at one shop. We got to see many original pieces of the car in several bins waiting for prep work. Those cars are amazing!

Oh, then i think it's probably the oldest spot on the site.

And I didn't even know there was color back then.

Yes, it was really spotted in 1969 - couldn't post it then though, neither I nor the modern day internet was born :-)
Found it on a slide from my late father-in-law that has been stashed away for decades. The slides were all date stamped. Hoping for some more gems like this to be found yet as I go through them!

I saw that GT40 at Legendary too, it's so beautiful. They always have amazing inventory, the Zonda R is insane!

When I was at Legendary Motorcars in Milton, Ontario they started up their Ford GT40 Mk 1 and it sounded amazing! They are amazing cars, nice shot!

The thing I like about GT40s is that they are all one color, no stripes. Some of the 05/06 GTs are stripeless though.
