As you all may or may not know, 500 original Chevrolets from the 1950s up until the 1980 were discovered in a defunct Chevrolet dealership in Nebraska. The man who owned it had been running the dealership for 40 years, and when a car didn't sell, he would just put it in storage, or out in a field behind the dealership. In 1996, he one day just decided he was going to retire, so he just simply walked away from it, and shut all its doors with the cars inside. Each car had very little mileage on it. The mileages ranged from 2-5 miles on the odometers. More on this story here

Yeah, I saw that on TV. It's crazy how some of them were brand new and kept in a garage for so long. I watched it on TV for a while, while they were selling the first few, and I saw some going for like $120K.

They weren't "discovered", didn't they owner of the building know all about them?

Nobody knew about them, so technically, they were discovered :D

Well, the locals knew about them, but they saw them every day, so it was just a normal part of their life that they didn't notice. They didn't realize how many of them there were or how valuable some of them were though.
