Dude, just trust me, the last damn thing you're going to want to do in between work and school is fix your car every week. Why not just get something that doesn't break down every 50 miles so that you can spend your time/income on other things or save it?

btw 8,000 dollars a week means working 72 hrs a week

a usual 40 hr workweek would be more along the lines of 4,400
Let's see

$110.00 for every hour I work

$110.00 x 8 hours (for an eight hour shift) = $880.00

$880.00 x 5 (for five days in a week)= ... $4,400

O_________________________________O
Even if you were making $110 per hour or $4,400 a week there are some other considerations.....

1. Tax.
2. Overheads.
3. Reality of how many people at 16 are making this sort of cash?

The parts, the quality, the entire thing. Ask Silvawraith, he'll be better at answerring that than i will. I'm just passing on what he told me.

But this one's mine so you better not take it!!!

You have a good point, but what kind of car can I buy? My list is:

. Something under $7,000-$10,000
. Runs
. Will not make me look horrible at school (i.e: a rusty 1982 Cadillac)

If you pay 7-10k for a rusty 82 caddy then you got ripped off really good. Anyway, get a cheap VW or something. I don't understand why you wouldn't want anything japanese. They make some of the most reliable cars out there..

It's a British car build in the 80's.

Did anyone build reliable cars in the 80's?

RELIABLE?! My mom has a 2002 Honda Odyssey, and the sliding doors keep breaking. And I believe Volkswagen is German.

Yeah I know it's German lol

Anyway, perhaps the honda is a lemon, idk, but ask anyone whether or not Honda is a reliable brand and most of the answers will be in the range of hell yes. Same with the Toyotas out there.

Yeah, there's a few German manufacturers making cars here too. BMW I know has a plant for sure and I think it's where they make all the Z4s or something.

It won't be mechanically sound for long. And the repair bills wil be massive!

I was thinking about only driving it to school on nice spring or fall days, and during the summer, I would only save driving it for if I am going to a car show. That way, I can save gas. And also, if I get an internship at the Miller Motorcars Service Facility, and I get a job, I would be making $110 an hour. That way, I could pay for all of the repair costs.

So you can make $8000 a week and are thinking about buying a 23 year old Bentley $10K heap, and worry about gas costs? Holy cr*p in the USA you have cheap fuel, you would need to work about 40 mins to fill this puppy up, and you could wring its neck and still get 8 MPG.

Gas is your last worry, wait until something like the AirCon goes, or a gearbox.

But really anyone making $4-8K a week should not buy a $10K heap or worry about running costs, don't be a tight git buy something decent. With that sort of income you could buy a 2-3 year old conti, or Aston with a decent warranty. What's that going to lose 2-3 weeks salary a year.. nothing to someone earning $400,000 per annum.....lol

But seriously if you are earning $400-$800 a week which is more realistic at 16,don't event think about that heap. Turbo issues could be three months salary.

Never buy a car, if you can be accused its you granddads.

Buy a 23 year old Bentley get used to this view...
