In my opinion, the best is unquestionably the collection of Ralph Lauren. He has nearly every supercar imaginable and every super high end classic car imaginable and they are all in impeccable condition. Other collections I can think of would be the cars of Peter Mullin, Ken Lingenfelter, Jack Nethercutt, The Sultan of Brunei/Prince Jefri, Fred Simeone, and I am sure I am missing a ton of others. Please list some of the other top car collections in the world that you can think of but they have to be currently privately owned. Things like the Schlumph, John O'Quinn, or Bill Harrah Collections and corporate museums do not count.
Jay Leno's collection is nice but does not come close to the best in the world. Same with Fux. Pierre Bardinon died last year but as far as I know his collection is still together so that would be one of the best. Maybe Tom Price too.
What about Benny Caiola? I believe he had one of the few Zondas in the US before he passed away. I believe things like his FXX and MC12 were up for sale after he died. Not sure about the size of his collection but he certainly has some rare pieces.
Jack Nethercutt who I mentioned in my first post owns it now. The museum is spectacular, especially if you go to the part across the street done to look like a vintage showroom.
In Columbus, there are actually some collectors with pretty big collections:
Mr Sutphen: Everything from Daimler to Cadillac V16's to Fire Trucks, to Bantams---60+ cars in all
Jim Evans: 20+ Lambo, Ferrari, and Maserati
Unknown name : He has few cars, but they are valuable. 6 1930's Rolls (one was owned by a gangster), Packards, Cadillac XLR
Bob McDorman: 60+ Random Cars (He is opening up a museum soon, I want to volunteer SO BADLY)
