Hopefully it gets sent up to the Gas Monkey Garage, I'd like to see a F50 even if it is wrecked.

It will be fixed but I hope it isn't fixed by someone like them. It should go to a real Ferrari repair shop that returns it exactly to the way it was. If the tub is damaged that will be a huge repair bill if done correctly.

I'd HATE for it to go to Gas Monkey Garage. They completely destroyed that F40. Since New Britain isn't too far from where I live, they should send it to the Miller Motorcars Service Facility. They could fix it there.

I'd LOVE for it to be sent to Gas Monkey, because it would be on TV and i LAHV what they did to that F40, i would have mine bone stock or like that, no other way :)

UPDATE FROM GTSPIRIT: "We are informed that the owner is fine. The car was apparently fitted with a Tubi-style exhaust system which had a cracked pipe. We’re told that carbon monoxide (or dioxide) filtered its way into the cabin, causing the owner to lose consciousness. He hit a tree doing 55-60 mph. The cracked windscreen was casued by the drivers head, however, we are told his injuries were superficial. If you have any further info we’d love to hear from you."

Look at it this way. There are countless videos of this guy driving like a nut job on youtube. He wrecks a car potentially worth over a million and as always the insurance company is going to look for any way so they don't have to pay. If they come to conclusion that the crash was a result of reckless driving then they will void the insurance policy and not pay. The driver comes up with a story about how he was somehow knocked out by the gas even though the top was down and he was going 60 mph. It just doesn't add up. Exhaust leaks are not uncommon in older cars and I have never heard of this happening in an open car. Also 8,000 miles ago this exact F50 has an over $100,000 service and I'm sure it probably had a service when you recently saw it at Miller. It was in perfect mechanical condition so an exhaust leak would be extremely unlikely. The story does not add up and it sounds more like something a lawyer would come up with so the insurance company would still cover the damage.

Isn't it possible they took the top off AFTER the car wrecked to rescue the driver, or to sell it separately?

It's possible but highly unlikely. If they were to do that then I doubt they would re-install the roll bars and the piece of body work that goes around them. Both of those have to be taken off to install the hard top. This guy recently bought the car and is known to be a crazy driver. He wrecks it and claims it was a freak accident and blames the exhaust system which was fine only a few months prior. I don't buy it. If I were Tubi I could consider filing a defamation suit.

Sounds like a good idea, and that's what they should do. I think he wrecked it because he is an idiot. How does one crash into a TREE while passed out at the wheel? He would have most likely crashed head-on into another car.

About the exhaust fumes in the cockpit thing, couldn't find any info, does the F50 really have a tendency to do that or did the owner just make up a story for insurance?

Not sure who said that but that is the biggest load of cr*p ever.

Woohoo! I've turned into Bloomberg News who posts something without checking their sources first :D

Yeah especially since the top was off. Any carbon monoxide in the car would be negligible because the air would be constantly circulating. There is no way that could have happened.

Hmmmm. Wonder how it really happened. How much money do you want to bet that he was showing off to chicks, and he ended up crashing it into a tree? By the looks of it, that's probably what happened. You can even see where the pole of the tree was by the gigantic bend in the bumper on the right side.

he did the stare and drive lol

It's quite easy to hit a tree while passed out. The road could turn in such a way there is a tree in front of you or you could pull the wheel in such a direction that it turns you toward a tree. The chances are likely greater to hit a tree than to hit another car.

Ah yes, this guy. I remember watching a video a few days back with this guy driving this thing thinking to myself "any day now.." It's a shame. Half the time the dude driving didn't even have a shirt on. Probably did things in that car that most of us would consider sacriligious. Oh well, hope he didn't bother insuring it at least.

No, I just hope he didn't have insurance so he doesn't get the money back to buy another car and wreck it.

My dad is very high in the insurance business, and says that he could have purposely wrecked the car just to get a new exotic. I've read the story, and it very well could've been planned to happen.

He could also have just sold the car the old fashioned way and used that money to buy another car, no?

That would make the owner even more idiotic than he already is. I HIGHLY doubt he'd do something that stupid considering you don't get nearly as much money from the insurance company as you would if you just sold the car.

Plus, if he would've purposely crashed it, he would've been wearing a seatbelt so his head wouldn't go directly into the glass.
