It's not exactly like the concept. While it is still similar, there are some minor differences such as headlights, the all glass doors, and the interior.
I don't get excited about concept vehicles for two reasons:
1. They rarely actually go into production (it's just a tease).
2. If they do go into production, they end up looking nothing like the concept version. Or like a watered-down boring version of the concept.
Why are those no reasons to get excited? They're built to showcase an idea or a new design, and ultimately show where the brand will be heading in the future. Plus, companies can use concepts to judge if people will like their styling direction. Case and point, the Bentley EXP9F. It really wasn't wonderful looking, and now Bentley have said they completely redesigned the car.

See for yourself... Concept car on top, production car on the bottom:
While the production version doesn't look bad, you have to admit that it looks watered-down compared to the radical vision of the concept. That was my original point.

I wouldn't say "watered down," I'd say civilized. The concept looks silly in some ways. Like see-through doors? Really? Just be happy that it looks as much like the concept as it does. The i8 really doesn't prove your point. Maybe the new WRX is a better example of something that looked truly badass then became very average in production.

There really isn't a massive difference. If you look at it, all of the same basic parts are the same. The most noticeable styling change is that of the door, and that was never going to make it to production anyway. BMW did a wonderful job of turning a great concept into a great road car.

I agree with that. I can't even decide which one i like more.
