Turns out this story is not true and the owner from Greenwich sold the car years ago. This car has not been sold recently and the whole thing was made up.

Because they thought they knew more than they did and assumed their source was factual and it was not. It happens all the time because journalists have become so irresponsible with what they write and many don't fact check anything.
