absolutely r8. i think in like 50 years, a gtr will look like a normal car, where as with an r8, it will always look exotic. they havent changed the design in 4-5 years because they dont need to
The GTR design hasn't changed either.. if anything it has changed less than the R8.
I see the GTR is getting a lot of hate here but as someone who doesn't care much about brand names (except for watches) I could care less that it's from Japan. The thing is wicked fast and it's just all around fun. The aftermarket support is amazing. Yeah, I know someone who is buying a GTR soon and he has the ability to make the happiest kid go suicidal but Audi owners can be just as bad. Idk about you guys but around here, if a douchebag is tailgating me, there's a good chance he's in an Audi. I don't let that effect my opinion on the cars though. In the end, you buy an R8 because you want a Lambo but it's too expensive right now. You buy a GTR because you want to have fun and go on a shopping spree on amsperformance.com otherwise you'd get a 911.
i have never met an owner of either car, but that wouldn't change my opinion. also, i really don't like aftermarket parts and stickers and stuff. maybe that's why i like the R8 more, its more sophisticated.
The R8 is essentially based off a Lamborghini Gallardo platform.
The GT-R is essentially a riced-out Nissan Skyline.
That tells you everything you need to know.
Winner = R8
How is a "GT-R is essentially a riced-out Nissan Skyline"? You could say the Gallardo, or R8 is essentially a is VW, with a engine is made in Hungary.
What is wrong with a Skyline coming from a very long standing pedigree, been around far longer than the A8 which is based upon a Gallardo? It's been around longer than Lamborghini as a company.
The R8 is a much better looking car for one thing vs. the GTR, and secondly, the entire car's handling capabilities aren't powered solely by computers.

So you're siding with the R8?? I would never have guessed.
GTR by far.
I don't understand why everyone hates it so much. Yes it might be a computer on wheels and yes some of GTR owners are assholes but I don't see why people would hate it.
I personally love it. My friend owns one and I drove it before. Handles great!

Plus riced out cars aren't that bad IMO
GT-R is awesome the Skyline heritage is far more established than the Audi's.
Also the dispute over cars with computers is nonsenses all modern cars bar a few track day cars are fully maxed with computers. It's not like the Audi does not have traction control, ABS, ASR, EDL, ESC, stability control, a variety of driver aids and of course Quattro all-wheel-drive, with S Tronic Auto. It's hardly RAW or a purist car. People wanting that should buy a Ultima or Noble, and I have driven a Noble and off track it is not fun.
People going on about Audi should look up "Vorsprung durch Technik" It does not mean looking back......it means "advantage through technology"
Now the R8 does look better IMO and probably has a nicer interior, but the GT-R point to point, everyday and for tuning is probably unbeatable.
i love the look of both of them. i love the R8 al together. but its just SOMETHING about the GT-R that i LOVE. you just cant beat THAT bargain. an AMAZING amount of speed, and those beautiful looks all for under 100 grand :)
