...why McLaren ten years ago? They were nearly a decade removed from their last production vehicle at that point.

Overall I would say Rolls Royce. Although I am not a huge fan of the vehicles they are currently making, almost every car of theirs in the past is nearly impossible to beat in terms of build quality, design, and luxury.

Aston Martin has always made pretty cars but most of them really weren't that spectacular in other ways. The 90's Virage looked terrible, the Lagonda is worthless, and the 80's V8 Vantage isn't that fast and it's unreliable although I still would love to own one.

I'm torn here between Aston Martin and Rolls Royce. I love both of them, and both of them have made simply gorgeous cars for their entire history, albeit with a few minor exceptions to that rule along the way. I think I may have to go with Aston Martin on this, as much as I love Rolls Royce. The original V8 Vantage looked stunning, the DB5's styling is legendary, and the new Vanquish cannot be beaten by anything else made today.

Just based on styling I agree with you. I love the way almost all of them look (except the old Virage and Lagonda).

I must admit, despite their poor looks, there is something I like in them. I don't know why. Same with the Camargue.
