I understand Buicks existence in foreign markets, mainly because they don't have Cadillac. Until recently, Cadillac has always been the stem-luxurt / luxury in the GM market in America making Buick awkwardly, like you said, the semi luxury. Some Chevys can reach up and surpass a Buick in luxury standards. Chevys can reach the levels of a GMC or Cadillac. However, without Cadillac, or GMC, in other markets, Buicks make perfect sense. Cadillac is really branching off now and becoming a true luxury brand of thier own. Maybe this will allow Buick to take over where Cadillac left.
I feel like Pontiac had the potential to be a performance oriented brand. They were basically chevys on the cheap side, which I felt like really screwed them.
