we have the trouble topic so... what good things have happened when spotting a car
eg: owner turns up and lets you sit in it
i was offered to sit in a phantom once, but stupidly declined (my bus was due any second)
next time i will be missing the bus lol
and
not really great thing but....
me and a friend spent about 5mins taking photos of an R8 i noticed a guy and his son over the road waiting... didnt thing anything of it, when we were done and started walking off he come over and drove of in the r8
thought that was good of him
Ages ago autocar took me for a lap of the tt course a brand nee gtr (about 2 months before it was released for sale) it was awesome and I think we got close to 180 on the mountain road
I was taking pictures of a Tesla Model S and i rang up the owner (i was at work) and he invited me out to sit in it. He let me sit in it, post on ES from it and gave me a full tour of the car.
I wasn't spotting but I was shooting cars at McLaren Philadelphia. I was shooting the Rosso Vik Performante I posted in the forum, and a guy came over and started talking about the car. He then asked if I was photographer, so I just told him I did it for fun. He then asked if I could take pictures of him with "his car" so I laughed and asked if he was serious. He was, and we walked over to a volcano red 12C Spider he was picking up. I took some pictures for him, then he asked me to email them to him. He handed me a business card with his info, along with $20 and said "stay warm." Cool owners are cool.
First one: I was Photographing an F355 Spider parked at a liquor store in Frazer, the owner came out of the store, let me set in it, and took my picture.
Second one: Photographing a 308 at the Reading Expo center, the owner let me sit in it, told me info about the car. (One of few all aluminum 308s exported to the US, also no US spec bumpers). Then also told me about the 512M he has.
I've had quite a few moments with owners of cars whilst spotting
One Chauffeur in a Phantom let me sit inside it. A wealthy gentleman let me sit inside his Silver Shadow II, and we talked about classic car rally's around Yorkshire. I've also had a conversation with an R8 V10 owner in Leeds (He held traffic back quite a lot, so people seemed disgruntled with that fact). I've talked to an Arnage Red Label owner, about what he wanted to purchase next (A Morgan or some sorts), and i got to sit inside a 2012 Conti GT (Owner was really nice there too, came from Essex). I rarely encounter a bad owner, as quite a lot of owners i talk to are genuinely nice!!
And since i go to the Cedar Court Grand Hotel in York quite often, the valeters let me go into the basement of where they park the nicer cars (Only the Staff are allowed down there...).
