Details on This Jaguar XKR-S:
Location Charlotte, North Carolina
Description Had to pick one of my cousins up from a family friend's house, and these were parked a couple houses up the street in a neighborhood on the eastern edge of Charlotte. First XKR-S I've ever managed to get on camera.
I don't really care that much about what other people drive, but to act like they're better people than I am because their car gets better fuel economy than mine just gets on my nerves. Your hybrids are boring, and if you really cared much about the environment, you'd live near your job and ride a bike or maybe the light rail/street car there. I could maybe understand why you'd want a hybrid if you do a seriously insane amount of driving (as in, more than I do), as the fuel economy would eventually result in lower fuel costs over the course of the vehicle's life, but if you live in Davidson, where reportedly over 20% of the households make over $200k per year, you can almost certainly afford to live near your job in Charlotte.
Yep. A Prius driver at work gave my dad cr*p for driving a Land Rover and he said "I drive 2 miles to work, you drive all the way from Davidson, who leaves a bigger carbon footprint?" (Not that he cares about the carbon footprint of his car, just pointing out the hypocrisy). Driving a Prius makes people feel better about themselves even though it actually harms the environment. I don't care about driving a fuel-efficient but I can I'm at least open about that. I'd rather ride a bike than drive a Prius or Volt.
The funny thing is that the teacher's Prius (or whatever hybrid he or she drives) is worse for the environment as a whole after all mineral mining (for the batteries), manufacturing, shipping, and the like is taken into account. Worse than a Hummer.
Thanks, and I had too. It had been about four years since I'd seen another one of these, and it was so far off my radar that I almost didn't take a picture. I saw the wing and the wheels though and knew it was something special.
