Thanks West! Sounds like some fun experiences. I'm hoping in time I'll have the money to enjoy similar. Until then, I guess it's my memories of my old Elise and Forza combined with rash commentary on modern cars that will get me through my poverty!
Lamborarri for that event it was with a company called Red Line. The owners have won there class at Lemans in the past. It was a highly professional company. If you don't mind can I have your email? If not I will pm you here.
Hi George thanks man. I can never claim to be a professional by any means, but I have driven around 37 cars on track, 5 of those being Aventador's. It's a hobby I love and I try to drive as many tracks and cars as possible. I never try to change any persons opinion All cars drive differently, and most importantly it's what you want from them.
So many cars I liked but after driving them on track I had a different opinions of them. I hope your son becomes a huge car guy!
I appreciate your knowledge and well-cited information West! I haven't driven it on a track, nor at all. I've only tracked an Elise with a more broad set of experiences on the road. My opinion on the car's performance comes directly from Tiff Needell in his 5th Gear presentation of the Aventador. (I can link if you like). The reason I choose to trust Tiff is because every car he's driven that I've driven, he describes my exact thoughts and experiences. Many other journalists (Clarkson, Hammond and Harris for example) tend to love the cars I've driven and hated, and seem to lean towards cars I abhor.
I don't want this to come across as an argument, because you didn't really say anything that I disagree with. The Aventador is indeed remarkably fast, I just wish it had the same level of quality and artistic presence in design as it's predecessors, and I find the lack of inspired design a testament to the corporate greed that is degrading all goods worldwide. I offered to buy my 7-year-old a poster of the Aventador the other day, he said no. Then he dug around until he found a Diablo VS (Vicoria Secret SV Monterey) poster, which he claimed had too many people in the way of the car. He settled on the Countach.
Thanks guys. Hi George, I absolutely think this is one of the best cars you can drive on a track. It's hard to imagine a car this heavy and equipped with a old non sequential gearbox can be that good.
I looked at the test times on the European Top Gear track and the Aventador hit a time of 1:16.5 . Compare that to a Murcielago Sv of 1:19.0. Looks always come down to personal taste just like any other car. But imho I like the 458 and this car for their street and track capabilities.I even think it's better than the new Huracan.
Here is one of the Aventador's I had the pleasure to drive at Homestead speedway. Thanks btw for the comment.
In such a materialistic world, I find it ironic that the quality of most goods have diminished so greatly. Here is the successor to the Murcielago: Designed to look like unfolded origami, heavy enough to develop diabetes, and gauges that appear to have been borrowed from Gran Tourismo. Well at least the money saved in development will yield a lower price... No.
