A couple of import companies are bonded to import select models of the R34. Rivsu motors just imported 4 in midnight purple (300 built ) and 96-98 R33 are legal due to the fact that. Motorex had crash test data based soley on the R33
I see them in Canada already. To get them into America you have to either part them out and ship the main parts separately and then re-register it as a kit car and put it back together(not quite legal, no insurance available), or send it over explicitly as a specialty show vehicle with documentation proving its provenance and only for off-road use up to 2500 miles for up to one year and then it gets sent back home. I also think museums can import cars for many years if they intent to use them for educational purposes. There are about 15 R34's legally imported through a previous loop hole that has since been closed up through Motorex.
I've just done lots of research over the years because I will eventually import a Lotus Carlton and wanted all the info I could find.
