Here in Atlanta they once had a Superformance dealer selling these things. I guess the factory in South Africa had the blessing of the original designer of the GT40 on this design. It sounded terrific.
i also heard the actual Ford affiliated factories and other places would build the Ford GT kits out of the spare parts lying around at the time of production. This could be one of those fine line "Ford built" kit cars. that would also explain the antique plates (although that could also be removed from another antique car). but there does seem to be some really odd additions to the car and i cant exactly say i'm a fan of the color.
I was confused because it had the antique plates which I wouldn't think you could get if it really was a replica. My guess is that it's an original chassis with newly made/restored parts. Some parts looked authentic like the tires and wheels but other parts looked new.
This is definitely a replica. It looks really good though. I know that in the late 60s people had made GT40 replica kits even then, so maybe it's an old kit.
I am no expert (except on what a pint of Guinness should look and taste like) but yeah this looks too narrow, too long at the front and rear... and though I cannot say for sure , it does not look like the door cuts into the roof.. I would have to think Replica..
nice color combo though..
