Description After missing a 918 Weissach earlier in the day, I was convinced my spotting luck was gone. Then at about 6:45 that same night, this insane Lotus Seven snuck up on me in downtown. I almost missed it but luckily the owner stopped at the light for a split-second before turning onto Main. I didn't see him again. P.S. Sorry about the quality, my finger got in the way so I cropped it in a bit.
Exactly. Same with New Zealand. All dealerships are within walking distance of each other. The main ones (Lambo, Porsche, Aston, McLaren, Bentley) are in Grey Lynn. Then, 35-45 minutes walk from there are (Ferrari, another Porsche dealership, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Lotus, Maserari). So, when I go spotting, I always visit the dealerships, and get photos, and get photos of cars on the road too. There is also a service garage which sometimes services supercars, so when I go spotting, I always check there. The service garage is no public access, but there are windows I look through, and get photos there. A little bit sneaky lol.
Stated perfectly. Downers Grove also has a Bentley dealer (shared with Lamborghini) and an Aston Martin dealer. A little further west down Ogden Avenue is a Porsche dealer (Westmont), and one of the nation's leading Ferrari/Maserati dealers (Hinsdale).
Exactly. There are Lambo, Aston Martin, Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren, Maserati, Rolls Royce, Lotus etc dealerships in just Auckland alone. There are about 9-10 exotic car dealerships, maybe more. So, the more people that move over here, the more rich people will spend on cars, means I will see more exotics :)
Same with Downers Grove, we got a Lamborghini dealer last year (1 of 26 in the country I might add) and since then I've seen a bit more than usual. I hope they get a Veyron at some point, seeing one here would make my day! And I know of about 15 i8s in this state LOL
I have only seen one McLaren on the road this year. I've only ever seen one other McLaren on the road, a white 12C that I've seen and missed twice. For me in my area, spotting a McLaren would be like seeing a Bentley in Wyoming; not likely to happen, but as evidenced by my page (at least the Bentley part LOL) it's possible. Sucks about the i8 too, been a while since I've seen one.
Same with me. I always keep my phone in my hand with the camera app open, hopefully trying to see something, but there's the odd time when I forget, and that's when I miss a lot of supercars! I've missed Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, McLaren's, Lotus's and many more. Most recently, I missed an I8 driving on the highway, which kind of pissed me off lol
I wouldn't be able to even look at a chrome car to get pictures on a sunny day, at least if I was on the road. And just as a tip, my phone is always in my lap with the camera pulled up. If I hadn't, there wouldn't be a Scuderia, Aston Martin DB6, Ariel Atom, and more on my page.
Usually I see it when I have my phone on me, but I can never pull the phone out in time as it is always driving way too fast for a photo. Maybe next time I'll see it, I'll get a photo. It is very vibrant on a sunny day, believe me.
Luke I surprisingly had never seen a Lotus Seven before last Saturday, though I had seen my first Caterham version back in May. Hopefully you'll see it again, this time armed with your camera! :)
I've seen quite a lot of these over here. There is one not too far from me and it is fully chrome. Have seen it about 6-7 times, I just haven't been able to get photos.
Thanks Luke! I do respect your opinion, but I want to wait for a few others. I have seen them put in the Evora category before, but that doesn't mean I won't move it if I have to.
