Description My dad spotted this AMC Matador police car on his bike ride. These are extremely rare to find with the Javelin 401 engine. Some of these were used in shows such as Adam-12. In the 60's and 70's, the LAPD had the most vigorous police car testing program in the country, and this car passed with flying colors. They bought around 634 of these. In 1972 the Alabama State Patrol bought 100 Javelins with the 401 engine for their pursuit division.
The rest of this wouldn't fit in the description. The equivalent of this car now with the 401 engine, is like putting a 662 horsepower Shelby engine under the hood of the new Ford Taurus Interceptor. These cars were fast for its time.
