That's what my friend said works, Shane.

But also a good idea to screw with Program mode for your "preferred" panning.

I would never use rapid fire mode for a moving car. I find it much easier and more effective to follow the car with my camera and keep on taking a picture when it looks good. The thing with rapid fire mode is it takes the pictures one after another, so you can't even see the car through the viewfinder. How are you going to accurately follow the car with the camera if you can't even see it?

Brendon, that works? I thought the sport mode used a fast shutter speed to freeze the action. The best way to do it is to use the manual mode and set the shutter speed at 1/60 - 1/80 and then set the other setting to get the right amount of light in with that shutter speed.

Use the mode with the running person. That's best for panning with the T3i.

And that my friends is why I use rapid-fire mode even when I'm not in a moving car. We were dropping off my mom's minivan for repair at a Mobil Station, so I was on the sidewalk when I saw this

Well, you do this thing called moving the camera with the moving car..... It makes sense. If you're moving the camera at the speed of the car, the car will be clear, and since the back isn't moving it gets blurred.
