This is a 280i, judging by the rear tail lights it is not likely older than 1985, and having the flag type rear view mirrors, rather than flaired in ones it is probably no new than 1985 (so you would think it is a 1985?! - well TVRs can't always be pinned down on spec, so I would say 1985 or 1986. Note that the TVR 390 was very similar rather trim and flaring changes, and more importantly a Rover V8 based engine (350i, 350se, 400, 420, 450, 420SEAC and 450SEAC being a number of the rover based ones. The 280i was first sold as a Tasmin, later as a Tasmin 280i, and later as a 280i, dropping the Tasmin name. The 280i was named as it was a 2.8 litre engine, the Ford Cologne engine was the one used; in general terms it was the same engine as the Ford Capri Ghia (late 70's?).
